Pre-placement at the Charleston Civitan International competition

The East Tartan Regiment has been under the direction of Mr. Scott Brehm since 2001, who is also the first Director of Bands for the Sciotoville Community East High School (formerly Portsmouth East). The band represents the community of Sciotoville, Ohio in competitions ranging from OMEA (Ohio Music Education Association) sanctioned regional events, to Bands of America Grand Nationals Championships.  The band also performs at East's football games, in various parades, and many other musical events throughout the year.
The band averages around 50 members every year, occasionally having as many as 60 or as low as 40 official members.  The band is considered a class C school in OMEA sanctioning.  This ranking is based upon the number of students in the school, grades 10-12.  East averages around 150 students in this range, which is well below the cutoff point for Class C. Potential band members are permitted to try out for the band at as young as 7th grade.
The band strives for excellence in performance when abroad at competitive, and other musical events.  Because of their dedication to their art, the band has received many honors befitting their wonderful performances.  Since 1995, the band has received 25 Overall Grand Champion awards, 6 OMEA State Finals Superior Ratings, and other recognition on the local, State, and National level, including performances at Bands of America Regional and National Championships.
