September 26, 2000 East Wins Rock Hill Competition The Portsmouth East Marching Band received its first Grand Champion award at Rock Hill on Saturday, September 23rd. Performing in Class C, the band swept all first place awards in their class (band, percussion, and color guard). In overall awards, the band received Best Overall Percussion in addition to their Grand Champion victory. In Class B, Ironton High School Marching Band had an amazing showing, winning First Place Class B Band as well as Best Class B Color Guard. They also took the overall award for Color Guard! Rounding out Class B, Minford High School Marching Band took Best Percussion. In Class A, Meigs High School swept all categories with First Place awards. Meigs also won 1st Runner-Up Grand Champion.
