Portsmouth East Finds Success in Ironton

The Portsmouth East Marching Band competed at Ironton High School's annual Buckeye Classic Invitational on September 30th, 2000. The band swept first place awards in Class C in Guard, Percussion, and Band Placement awards. The band also placed third in overall competition, winning the 2nd Runner-Up Grand Champion honors. An extreme congratulations to East's Color Guard, as they took the overall Color Guard Champion award! Not too bad for performing second on the day!

We would like to congratulate the 1st Runner-Up Band, Gallia Academy, on their wonderful performance in Class A competition. In addition to their overall placement as 1st Runners-Up, they also were awarded 2nd Place Class A Band, 2nd Place Class A Percussion, and 1st Place Class A Guard. Congratulations Gallia Academy!

The Grand Champion award was won by McNicholas High School from Cincinnati, Ohio (whose assistant band director is none other than Portsmouth East graduate, and former East percussion instructor Keith Nance). An extra congratulations go out to McNicholas, as their Grand Champion at Ironton was their first in McNicholas school history! Portsmouth East congratulates you!

Congratulations to all bands that competed this weekend!

The 18th Annual Blue & White Invitational

Portsmouth East also hosted one of its most successful Blue & White Invitational competitions on the 30th. With 17 bands in competition and performance, the audience was treated to the best of the local bands, as well as some new faces from around the region.
