November 05, 2000 Portsmouth East Receives a Perfect Superior The Portsmouth East Marching Band performed in OMEA State Finals competition on Saturday, November 04, seeking its fourth consecutive (fifth in six years) superior (I) rating. Amidst a chilling wind, the band accomplished their goal, ending the 2000 season in spectacular fashion! The band achieved something that they have never accomplished in their history of State Finals appearances: a perfect superior rating. All seven of the band judges (two General Effect, two Music, two Marching, and one Percussion) plus the auxiliary judge, gave the band a superior rating on each aspect of their performance. This has never been accomplished by the Portsmouth East Band in the history of State Finals. As has been mentioned, several other local bands performed in State Finals on the second weekend of OMEA State Finals. The website has not received word on their ratings as of yet, but a complete rundown of the local bands will be posted as soon as we hear word. Congratulations on another memorable and successful season!
