29 October 2002 East Tartan Regiment to Perform in OMEA State Finals The East Tartan Regiment will conclude its 2002 season with a performance at OMEA State Finals. State Finals are only open to bands that qualify by receiving an overall superior rating at any of the OMEA Sanctioned Events. In a year which many bands, especially small ones, had to fight (and sometimes failed) for the judges' recognition, East is honored to be able to participate in Finals for the 9th consecutive year. As always, OMEA State Finals will focus on each individual band's performance, and not on competition. Each band strives to achieve a Superior Rating, arguably the highest honor OMEA can bestow upon a band. East has received 5 Superior Ratings in the past 8 years, and hopes to acquire its sixth this weekend. East has chosen to perform at the Welcome Stadium Finals Site (in Dayton, Ohio) on Sunday, 03 November 2002; East's performance time will be 5:30 PM. Also performing in the same "block" as East will be local friends Green, at 6:00 PM. In addition to Green and East, Northwest will also represent Scioto County in Finals performance at 1:45 PM, earlier the same day. East would also like to recognize local C bands Dawson-Bryant and Waterford, both of which performed in State Finals this past weekend. Although the website has not learned Dawson-Bryant's results, Waterford received a Superior Rating, their 4th in the past 5 years. Congratulations to both of these bands on their achievements. East would also like to congratulate all bands that made Finals this year. To those bands who have yet to perform, good luck from the East Tartan Regiment. To those that already have, congratulations on a fantastic season! |
