2001 Field Show - "Fantasia 2000"

Mr. Scott Brehm took the helm of one of Ohio's most successful competitive marching bands for an excitingly ambitious journey through selections from Walt Disney's animated salute to the greatest classical music of all time, Fantasia 2000. This "new classic" featured new animated visual interpretations of compositions, along with some of the old favorites from the original Fantasia.

East's 2001 show included selections from: Ludwig Van Beethoven's 5th Symphony; Paul Dukas' signature work, "Sorcerer's Apprentice"; and Igor Stravinsky's "Firebird Suite". These pieces feature some of the most easily recognizable themes in Western Music. In fact, while Stravinsky's "Firebird Suite" is arguably one of the most important orchestral works of the 20th century, Beethoven's "5th" could be considered one of the highest points of the late Classical era. Of course, "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" brings to mind all of the visual images of rampaging animated brooms that we all remember so well from both versions of Fantasia.
