The time has come to move away from the stagnation of the status quo. After years of performing the competition marching band standards--classical, Latin, and jazz--the East Tartan Regiment accepts an entirely new challenge: blues rock. Performing music from the popular jam band Blues Traveler, the band attempts to keep the spirit of the original songs intact while at the same time translating the music to a marching venue.

Not only is the band morphing its style for 2002, but it is also moving into another exciting endeavor: a completely "home grown" show. The music was arranged by East Band Director Scott Brehm, while the drill was written by East's drill instructor of two years, Bill Burroway. In other words, a show NOBODY in the marching band scene has ever seen!

The repertoire includes three Blues Traveler songs, all chosen for their differing styles. The show begins with a short medley of recognizable blues themes, which quickly give way to the blistering "Crash Burn". "Felicia" follows, giving a taste of mambo along with its healthy doses of blues and rock. The show ends with the driving "Most Precarious" with a reprise of "Crash Burn" at the close.

For 2002, East has decided to turn a few heads with the new musical style, but rest assured that the band will adhere to its usual standards of musical artistry and excellence.
